First, you need a little back story. When we tell folks we are from New York, they often think of the city that never sleeps – Manhattan. Who has chickens there? We don’t know.

But out in eastern Long Island, there is space for chicks. In fact, our town allows us to have up to 12 hens based on our property size. So we said, why not? Actually, we said, let’s give this a try and start with 6 (the minimum amount of baby chicks you can buy here).

We are hooked. I would say hooked…line and sinker, but we aren’t fishing. We are raising tiny little birds to become our flock of fluff-butt friends. It’s a bonus they produce eggs.

So without further adieu, here is the lovable bunch…

We will update you as they grow. But since this is the absolute cutest stage of life, you need to see these photos.
